Jon Jones has had a love-hate relationship with the renowned MMA promotion and UFC president Dana White. The former light heavyweight division champion vacated the belt in 2020. However, he has since then eyed a move towards the heavyweight division.

The 34-year-old hasn’t fought since his light heavyweight title win over Dominick Reyes via unanimous decision in 2020. He has been active on social media sharing his thoughts on a potential upcoming fight.
Recently, a fan enquired with ‘Bones’ whether UFC has offered him a fight yet and the veteran fighter responded.
Nope, but my plan is to be in peak condition come June/ July https://t.co/wHAc1nUvwl

‘Bones’ responded, “Nope, but my plan is to be in peak condition come June/ July”
Jones announced he is expecting to be in his peak condition by June/July. Despite nothing being official yet, Jones has provided a tentative timeline for his return to the Octagon in his latest tweet.
It will be exciting to see who UFC president Dana White pits against him, considering Jones only has his eye on the heavyweight title. However, with current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou out for almost nine months, a title shot looks difficult for Jones.
UFC might schedule an interim title bout in the heavyweight division, but the chances of Jon Jones being a part of it are scarce. Recently, after his UFC Columbus win over Chris Daukaus, Curtis Blaydes also demanded an interim title bout against #1 heavyweight Ciryl Gane.
Despite being out of action for nearly two years, Jones is vigorously training and preparing for a blockbuster UFC return. He often shares pictures from training and looks like he is full of confidence and motivation.

Dana White rules out Jon Jones title bout
Jon Jones has made it obvious several times that he is looking forward to becoming the UFC heavyweight champion. He has been bulking up and training for the same for quite some time now.
I’ve been imagining it for over two years now, I genuinely believe winning this heavyweight championship is in my destiny. It’s already been written. I just need to keep my nose in the dirt for now and keep working, everything else will take care of itself. https://t.co/9V41HVzpTy

However, Dana White doesn’t seem to be really interested in the idea. The two have had disputes in the past and that might be a factor in deciding Jones’ future.
In an interview ahead of UFC 270, White spoke about ‘Bones’ getting a heavyweight title shot next. White wasn’t sure about the idea, and he explained why.

White said, “I don’t feel confident saying that Jon Jones is next and not because I think he is unreliable, it’s because I honestly don’t know what Jon Jones wants to do next. I think Jon’s going to watch this fight, and you know he’ll decide maybe he doesn’t fight at heavyweight. Maybe he goes back and tries to regain the light-heavyweight championship. I honestly don’t know the answer to that question.”
