After a successful UFC 300 event, the promotion is now moving to Brazil to host its next event, UFC 301. The event is all set to entertain the fans, with some of the best fighters featured in it. One fight that has caught the attention of many is the bantamweight clash between Jose Aldo and Jonathan Martinez.

The fight marks the return of former champion Jose Aldo to his home soil. Aldo retired from the sport in 2022 but is back to face one of the rising contenders in the division. ‘Dragon’ is currently on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC. But whom has he lost to? Let us find out.

Jonathan Martinez is without a doubt one of the best signings made by the promotion in the bantamweight division. The 5’7″ American is a mixture of power and speed inside the Octagon. Before his move to the UFC, ‘Dragon’ featured in many other fighting promotions, which included XFL, GCS, and many more. He made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 138 against Andre Soukhamthath.

The American did not have a dream start to his UFC career and lost the fight via unanimous decision. However, in his next fight, Martinez earned his first victory in the UFC against Wuliji Buren at UFC 234. Things then started to move rapidly for the bantamweight contender from there on.

He won his next fight as well, but he couldn’t keep his winning momentum going for long enough. Andre Ewell proved too much to handle for the 30-year-old, as he lost the fight via decision at UFC 247: Jones vs. Reyes. ‘Dragon’ then managed to win his next two fights and seemed unbeatable inside the Octagon.

However, he suffered his third loss in the UFC via knockout against Davey Grant at UFC Fight Night. Since then, the American has put on a show for the fans and is unbeaten in his last six fights. His latest victory came against Adrian Yanez via knockout in the second round. But can he keep his winning momentum going at UFC 301?

Jose Aldo is coming out of retirement at the age of 38-years-old. He will feature at UFC 301 in his hometown, Brazil. The Brazilian people will be super excited to witness their hero live in action. Aldo, a former featherweight champion, will have a lot to prove when he returns to the Octagon. He was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 278 against Merab Dvalishvili, which ended up being his last fight.

His opponent, Jonathan Martinez, is unbeaten in his last six fights and is one of the growing names in the division. His biggest asset is his striking ability, but his wrestling skills are second to none. On paper, the fight may seem to be pretty much in favor of ‘Dragon’.
