Colby Covington‘s recent tirade against multiple UFC personalities hasn’t really gone down well for the former welterweight interim champ. One individual who has clearly taken issue with Covington owing to that is his former friend and now bitter rival Jorge Masvidal. Despite having the chance to settle their differences inside the cage at UFC 272, it appears that the duo still have quite a bit of hatred for each other. And this has been evident as well over the last week or so, with ‘Gamebred’ having a few choice words for Covington in his interviews.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on ‘The MMA hour’, Masvidal remarked on the alleged “brain injury” claims made by the 35-year-old. While doing so, the veteran also opened up about wanting to face ‘Chaos’ one last time before he hung up his gloves, making it an interesting scenario at the welterweight division for the fans.

Jorge Masvidal blasts Colby Covington in an interview with Ariel Helwani
Preparing for his bout at UFC 287 against Gilbert Burns, the Miami native addressed the topic of his ongoing drama with Covington. As fans are quite familiar with it, the former interim champ had claimed that Masvidal allegedly attacked him outside a restaurant following their fight last year.
Blasting ‘Chaos’ for making wild claims about the injuries suffered during this alleged attack, the 38-year-old went on to express his frustration at Covington; even calling him “delusional” in the process.
“Colby was saying he had a brain injury, you know. And his brain injury allegedly was because of me. So it’s just funny to me all this bullsh*t man. And he was just trying to f****g sue me after saying numerous things that if he sees me in the street, he’ll f****g leave me in a puddle of my own blood and all this sh*t….. so it’s like this guy’s like delusional bro.” He stated.

But it was Masvidal’s next statement that displayed the emotions that he had pent up inside of him toward Covington. Despite losing his bout against the 35-year-old, he expressed a strong desire to face ‘Chaos’ yet again; in order to end the rivalry on his terms.
“But I’ll tell you this much when we get in the cage again, I’m gonna kill his a*s legally bro. I’ve been training for him since the moment that fight was done. I’ve been just preparing for him.“ he told Helwani.
Masvidal on how a possible rematch with Covington would go down
When nudged by the reporter, if he believed the rematch would take place again, the UFC veteran said he strongly felt it would happen.
“Before my career is done, that fight happens again and I leave Colby in the hospital for a good amount of time.”, he claimed.
The reason behind this confidence that he could take out Covington if they fought again stemmed from his previous loss too. Describing how the former interim champ couldn’t hurt him significantly, Masvidal felt he would come in much better prepared the next time.

He explains, “He wasn’t able to put me away hurt me, do anything like that. I lasted the five rounds with him. Hurt him a couple of different times in the fight. So I know that if I went that far, and he wasn’t able to do to me nothing, I knew I had to pull it off, man.”

In his mind, Masvidal has reasons to be confident. Although it might not go the way he feels it would go, there’s no doubt that a rematch between the two would end up pulling in large numbers for the UFC.
