Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington will headline UFC 272 on March 5 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Apart from being former friends and teammates, both often claim to be ‘Donald Trump’s favorite fighter’. However, ‘Gamebred’ thinks Trump only used ‘Chaos’ for the promotions.

In conversation with MMA Junkie’s Danny Segura, Masvidal said, “When he started the gimmick, you know, he was just wanting to get attached to something that was producing a lot of volume, a lot. Everybody was talking about Trump, you know, whether you love him or hate him so.”

“Next time you see Colby, ask him what’s your favorite law that Trump passed or that he changed or what’s your favorite thing that trump did for, for America, see what he tells you.”

“There’s a reason why Trump doesn’t go to his fights, you know. He’s f**king, thinks the guy’s full of sh*t too. I’m sure he’s just, Trump was just using him as promotion. He’s getting all this free promotion off, and why not? But I think Trump himself, Trump senior, sees through the f**king charlatan that he is.”

Covington was the first fighter to visit The White House; Trump has publically congratulated him after his fights. Perhaps Masvidal’s claims are legitimate. However, there is no way to prove it.

Jorge Masvidal versus Colby Covington: A rare non-title PPV main event

The two welterweights are in a unique spot at UFC 272 as they will headline a PPV card in a rare non-title fight. Mostly, the UFC likes to put a championship bout as the main event for the PPVs. However, they have made an exception for it when they have fights that are too big to put on a UFC Fight Night card.

In recent times, only a card built around Conor McGregor has headlined a PPV with no belts. His bouts against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, and Dustin Poirier at UFC 246, UFC 257, and UFC 264, were main events without a title.

The hype around the Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal fight certainly makes it a PPV-worthy headliner.
