The beef between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards has been picking up the heat again. Ever since ‘Rocky’ secured a title win that styled after his moniker, he has had Masvidal’s attention. Recently, ‘Gamebred’ shed some light on his plans for the UFC welterweight champion.

Masvidal and Edwards’ beef began in 2019 after their backstage brawl in London. The altercation added to Masvidal’s ‘Street Jesus’ persona on his rise to stardom. However, three years hence, Masvidal is on a three-fight skid while Edwards is the divisional champion.

Jorge Masvidal has plans to fight Gilbert Burns

Jorge Masvidal last entered the octagon in March 2022 against rival Colby Covington. Masvidal lost the grudge match and has been on a hiatus ever since. Recently, there were talks of him fighting Gilbert Burns, but ‘Durinho‘ is now set to face Neil Magny in January 2023.

However, Masvidal still has a few plans for the Brazilian. The #11 welterweight wishes to use him to pull a sneaky move to leapfrog the higher-ranked fighters. During a recent interview, ‘Gamebred’ said,

“I plan on giving a beating, tearing up, and hitting Gilbert Burns with everything and the kitchen sink. I’m going to do everything that no one has done to him. Masvidal has already fought for the title twice consecutively. He lost both times against Kamaru Usman. The second fight came to fruition after Usman called him out to finish him convincingly. So skipping the line and sneaking past contenders is not new to ‘Street Jesus.’

Jorge Masvidal called the bluff on Leon Edwards, who stated that he was looking for payback against Masvidal. The 38-year-old said that Edwards is only looking to stay relevant. Masvidal believed that if the champion truly wanted to fight him, it would be easy to make it happen.

“The guy is literally the champion right now. If he told Dana White and the UFC he wanted to fight me, the UFC makes it happen like that. Why? Because I’m the one that sells the most pay-per-views in that entire division by like four, five times. The numbers are there, proven.”

Masvidal took more digs at Edwards. He said the champion only wanted to entertain the idea that he wanted the Masvidal fight. He called out ‘Rocky’ saying that the fight was there if he wanted it.
