Jorge Masvidal Says Leon Edwards Owes Him Big Time for This Fight

Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards are set to settle their heated rivalry inside the cage soon. Earlier, when the promotion officially announced the welterweight bout, both the fighters took to Twitter to share the news.

The Brit posted a mysterious tweet on his official account. He simply wrote “millionaire,” which left many fans and fighters perplexed.

Ahead of their fight, Masvidal appeared in the episode of The MMA Hour and shed like of ‘Rocky’s tweet. He said, “I know that he is getting his biggest paycheck ever, and it’s because of me and the whole time from the start of him calling me out.

“I have always said I am going to fight this guy, but when I say the whole time he was saying he wasn’t going to fight me, then I said you know what I’m going to fight you right now, and guess what he is fighting me right now. So as this interview goes down and the words spread and people copying pieces. He does what I say when I say.”

“So we’re fighting again when I said. Not when he said backstage. Oh, let’s do this. I want to fight him in July. No, no, all you’re getting is a quick I’m gonna check your ass real quick and let you know who’s the boss. And then I’m gonna actually fight you in the prize ring when I say when I see fit, you know. He’s a coward, and he’s completely out of place here, so I know why he’s singing in person, man.”

Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards: What lies next for the winner?

‘Gamebred’ and ‘Rocky’ will lock horns inside the octagon at UFC 269 in a non-title welterweight bout. The lightweight title fight will headline the pay-per-view.

Coming into the fight, ‘Rocky’, currently #3 in the welterweight division, is on a nine-fight undefeated streak. He will look to extend it to 10 and advance to challenge the winner of Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington 2.

On the other hand, Masvidal, who is on a two-fight skid, will look to bounce back in the win column with a victory over Edwards. A win in this fight will surely cement his position in the division and also fast-track his journey to the UFC welterweight gold.
