After Holly Holm secured a unanimous decision victory over Yana Santos at UFC San Antonio, the former women’s bantamweight champion made headlines for something other than her impressive performance in the octagon. In her post-fight interview, Holm took the opportunity to chastise the sexualization of today’s youth, a message that resonated with fans and fellow fighters alike.
This was Holm’s first win since 2020, and while expressing her happiness and gratitude, she felt the need to address an issue that had been weighing heavily on her heart. Her comments drew widespread praise from fans and fighters, including Jorge Masvidal, who recently joined the line to hail the 41-year-old UFC fighter for using her platform to share such a powerful message with the world.

While the message was crucial, Holm’s reason for using the platform to deliver it was even more profound.
Why this was an important message for her?
Holm’s message was well-received, and she garnered praise from fans and fellow fighters alike. But during the press conference after the fight, a reporter asked her about the message’s specifics and the reason for using her platform.
She explained, “You know there’s a lot of things I don’t ever want to be- I’m not like real political person, I don’t like to put that stuff on any of my social media… But there’s also just right and wrong, and I feel like everybody should be on the same side on that.”

She continued, “There’s a lot of child trafficking. I mean, that’s like the extreme part. There’s a lot of levels to it. You just see it almost being more accepted and I think that’s really sad. I feel like we should all do what we can. I know it’s like, a lot of people don’t know what to do. But if I can at least have a voice on it, then that’s something I can speak out on.”
