In a recent appearance on his podcast, Joe Rogan had a rather interesting discussion about comic books and superheroes. Known for having a wide variety of interests, Rogan gave his opinion on how he views the widely successful genre of superhero movies and shows.

Rogan’s guest, CK Chin, claimed some superhero movies have a certain depth to them, with many of the stories serving as a metaphor for real human problems. Rogan admitted to finding his way back to the genre in his thirties. However, he believes there’s only so much Superhero movies offer.

In fact, according to Joe Rogan ‘Superhero movies are just fun. It’s like junk food for the mind.’ Interestingly, Rogan then talked about one of his favorite superheroes/ movies, ‘The Watchmen’. Based on the DC comic series with the same name, The Watchmen is an extremely successful movie released in 2009.

Unlike most superhero movies, The Watchmen deals with a dystopian world where superheroes misuse their powers to control the world. Owing to its widespread popularity, ten years after the movie release, we also have a TV series based on ‘The Watchmen’. And while the T.V show has proven to be a tremendous success as well, Joe Rogan isn’t having any of it.

“Dr. Manhattan’s b***s**t. Dr. Manhattan is supposed to be a glowing nuclear blue guy with a giant d**k. All of a sudden, he’s a regular guy? What is this nonsense? That’s like if like the Hulk was just a guy who went to cross-fit. He’s supposed to be able to like time travel, go to other planets, he seems way too normal.”

At a time where superhero movies and shows run the box office, it is quite interesting to consider why many people continue to enjoy the genre.

Since Rogan seems fit enough to get back to his podcast, it is likely that we will see the beloved UFC commentator back octagon side soon as well.

Not long ago, Rogan faced a lot of criticism for interviewing Conor McGregor despite his leg break. Since then, we haven’t seen the premier commentating trio of Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, and Jon Anik working together.
