UFC’s Joe Rogan is a trained fighter and even competed back in the day. Hence, he has enough fight experience to incorporate it into his commentary. However, every fighter faces a difficult fight or opponent in their career and something similar took place with Rogan.

In the ‘JRE MMA’ show, episode #129, Rogan discussed the same. During the end of the conversation with guests, Gordon Ryan and Mo Jassim, the commentator spoke about how some athletes may be too proud. However, he felt fighters need to acknowledge that being in a fight is a huge deal and need to take it seriously.
Joe Rogan said, “I remember the first time I ever went to jiu-jitsu class. It was at Carlson Gracie’s and this purple belt just f***ing r***d me. Just manhandled me. He wasn’t even bigger than me. He was the same age as me. I had no disadvantage.”

“And I was like ‘I know how to fight. I used to kickbox, I can fight those taekwondo champion…’ and this guy was just whatever he wanted to me.”

His skills amazed Joe Rogan. He realized fights weren’t only about a person’s physical size. Thus, the podcaster felt it opened his eyes to something new. Thus, he feels other fighters, too, need to go through such an experience as it will help them build up their knowledge.
Did Joe Rogan ever lose a professional fight?
While Rogan worked as a commentator for the UFC and has great MMA knowledge, he never stepped into the Octagon. However, he has competed in the Taekwondo State championship and kickboxing.

As per ‘Way of Martial Arts’, Joe Rogan has been a 4-time Taekwondo state champion. Further, his short kickboxing stint earned him a 2-1 record. In addition to this, he has a black belt on the 10th planet Jiu-Jitsu. Thus, there is no doubt the podcaster can fight at a high level.
Even now, fans can catch the comedian practicing his kicks and punches. After all, Rogan shares those clips on his social media accounts.
