While talking to the media after his victory, Nzechukwu detailed the importance of receiving a win bonus. The fighter revealed his mother had been battling ALS and the win bonus would help him take care of her.

The African Savage said, “So, this win means a lot to me because my mother has Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS… it’s a muscle-debilitating disease and um, I’m her primary caregiver. So I don’t really have much of a life, just looking after her, and I’m going to church and training. So, it means a lot because of my mom.”
