Tom Hardy, the talented actor known for his roles in blockbuster movies like ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, has been causing a stir with his recent achievements in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The 45-year-old actor has been putting his nose to the grindstone, hitting the mats and honing his skills in this intense martial art. Hardy is no stranger to extensive training, and he’s even dabbled in mixed martial arts in the past. In fact, he trained in MMA to prepare for his role as an MMA fighter in the movie ‘Warrior’.

Hardy is just one of a number of celebrities who train in MMA and other martial arts, but he takes his training seriously. The Academy Award-nominated actor doesn’t just train for fun or fitness; he actually competes professionally in BJJ. Last year, Tom Hardy took the martial arts world by storm when he competed in an exhibition tournament organized by ‘REORG’ to support a social cause. The British actor not only participated but also bagged a gold medal, showcasing his skills and dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Later that year, he repeated the feat at the 2022 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open championships, proving that he was no one-hit-wonder.

Tom Hardy earns respect despite losing the match

Continuing his competitive streak, the ‘Venom’ star recently competed again, but this time, he didn’t manage to clinch the top spot. However, he certainly won the respect of his opponent, Darren, who took to social media to share his experience of fighting with Tom Hardy.

Having only good things to say, Darren mentioned in his post, “He turns up at this comps like any other dude, no special treatment. I get anxious before matches so I can only imagine how he must feel with all those eyes on him. He could quite easily just train BJJ and not compete like many people do, but it just shows what type of guy he is”.
