Kamaru Usman Joins Gilbert Burns’ Popular Russian Recruits in a Bid to Stop the Khamzat Chimaev Hype Train at UFC 273

UFC 273 is inching closer and we cannot wait to see it. Besides two title fights, fans will see Khamzat Chimaev return to fight Gilbert Burns in a match many believe will see the winner advance to challenge Kamaru Usman.

With all the Chimaev hype going on, it is a little unfortunate that people are looking over the second-ranked Burns. People are stoked to see the two fight as they believe ‘Borz’ will get a true challenge for the first time.

In an interview with TMZ, Burns admitted that he has also been training with his former opponent. ‘Durinho‘ stated, “In the reach, I’m one of the smaller guys, even at the gym. Every single guy at the gym, welterweight has more reach than I have. So I’m used to with that.”

“And I spar with a couple middleweights, with a lot of different guys. I have couple Russians here in the gym help me out. I have, uh, a lot of high-level guys…Kamaru Usman came couple days to help out.”

It is no doubt that the Khamzat Chimaev hype train is insanely strong. There’s been a lot of speculation that he could dethrone Kamaru Usman in his prime. Chimaev’s flashy performances and rise to the top may have the current king feel a certain way.

Hence, despite having parted ways ahead of their UFC 258 fight, Burns and Usman have now teamed up to take down the Russian that poses a threat to both of them simultaneously.

Khamzat Chimaev, who happens to be one of the best freestyle wrestlers in his country, poses a serious threat to Burns. Hence, it makes sense for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ to step in to help ‘Durinho’ ahead of UFC 273.
