‘Blonde Fighter’ fought out her contract with the UFC in her latest win over Jennifer Maia at UFC Vegas 46. She won the fight via unanimous decision and explained her contract situation in the post-fight interview. According to Chookagian, UFC declined to negotiate a new contract with her, which made her a free agent.

Now, though, the two parties have come to terms and fans can expect more thrilling encounters from the American fighter. Chookagian is on an emphatic three-fight winning streak and will try to add a fourth win on the trot against Ribas.

Her opponent has one win and one loss in her last two fights and is one of the rising prospects in the women’s flyweight division.
Chookagian has also fought in the bantamweight division previously but found the flyweight division more comfortable. She has the most wins (8) in the division tied with current champion Valentina Shevchenko.
It will be an interesting matchup between Chookagian and Ribas, with the latter moving to the flyweight division. A win against Ribas can make Chookagian a direct title challenger if things go her way.

In an interview with the UFC, Chookagian reiterated her dream is to become the flyweight champion. She said, “Being tied with the most wins with Valentina is great, but I’m such a go-getter.”
