While Almeida has cause for celebration, Rozenstruik will have to lick his wounds after his inconsistent run of form continues. The 35-year-old had lost 3 out of his last 5 fights before walking into UFC Charlotte.

He held the Surinamese heavyweight down on the mat and sunk in a rear naked choke as soon as the opportunity presented itself.

With Jon Jones recently ascending the throne at heavyweight, the arrival of ‘Malhadinho’ might make things interesting for the division. “This is Khamzat level,” said Daniel Cormier on commentary after watching the dominant performance from the heavyweight.
