UFC middleweight fighter, Kevin Holland may have left the division but hasn’t left his sight from it at all. The 29-year-old mixed martial artist is hoping to make a jump into the welterweight division next month. Holland will go up against a veteran welterweight fighter in Alex Oliveira after losing his previous 2 fights. Much like Holland, Oliveria is also looking to snap his 3 fights losing skid in his next outing.

Holland, though, is still keeping one eye on the middleweight title, despite flopping out of the division with 2 losses. In a recent media scrum, Holland spoke about fellow fighter in Sean Strickland, who could become his potential opponent. Strickland is on a 5 fight win streak and he is in line for a title shot next.
Holland was quizzed about Strickland’s rise in the division and what he thought about his chances against Israel Adesanya?
” I mean yeah, I would love to do that fight. Sean is on a really good winning streak right now, Sean’s on a really good wave in the middleweight division, you know what I mean? I am no dummy. We all know Sean is probably close to a title shot. There’s not many people for Izzy to fight at 185, so once Izzy knocks him the f**k out and he needs a rebound fight, here I am baby.”

Should Kevin Holland return to the middleweight division?
In his last two outings against top contenders of middleweight, things have only gone sideways for him. Short notice matchups against Derek Brunson and Marvin Vettori, cut his impressive 5 fight win streak short. Now Holland is looking to reinvent himself by changing weight classes in 2022 with his long-awaited welterweight debut against a tough contender.

What seemed like a permanent jump is now looking like a temporary change. The American mixed martial is still unwilling to leave his former division as new names continue to pile up and Adesanya continues to defend his throne.
