Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov might be at a crossroads as their next fight might decide the fate of both of these fighters. The Dagestani is riding a seventeen-fight winning streak and is one of the rising prospects for the bantamweight title. On the other hand, Sandhagen is on a three-fight winning streak. A victory might prove to be the road to glory but defeat might prove to be harsh for either of the fighters.
Umar Nurmagomedov has been calling for a title fight with Sean O’Malley but the UFC head honcho Dana White believes that the Dagestani fighter is not ready for a title fight just yet. Will his victory against ‘Sandman’ prove to be his ticket to the ‘135 lbs gold?’ Well according to former lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov, White has some good plans for his cousin.

Well, it is a fact that the Dagestani is still not a prominent figure in the bantamweight division. Ahead of their fight, a video has resurfaced where Khabib Nurmagomedov can be seen emphasizing that Umar Nurmagomedov’s popularity might be in his way to get the title glory. “It’s a long way from superstar. not even a star. You have to be a champion first, “ said Khabib Nurmagomedov in a conversation with the Gorilla Fighting last year.
He further added, “He’s one championship away from being now he was one step away then UFC said if he beats [Cory]Sandhagen. he will fight for the belt they had such plans.” ‘Eagle’ further clarified that a win͏ against ͏Sandhagen might ca͏t͏alyze for Umar Nurma͏gomedov to conten͏d͏ for the b͏a͏n͏tamwei͏ght champi͏onship, but it is st͏ill͏ ͏too early f͏or the UFC to label him as a star.

Their clash seems to be equally matched, however, the Dagestani might have the upper hand due to his age. Nonetheless, Cory Sandhagen is not bothered by Nurmagomedov’s undefeated status.
