Khabib Himself Makes Alexander Volkanovski Call-Out as Islam Makhachev Dedicates His Belt to Father Nurmagomedov After Submitting Charles Oliveira at UFC 280

The historic lightweight contest with both fighters holding a double-digit win streak went down inside the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi at UFC 280. ‘Champion’ Charles Oliveira took on Khabib Nurmagomedov’s protégé Islam Makhachev for the vacant 155 lbs championship.
Islam Makhachev won the title and had a new challenge in the Octagon itself.

The bout started with a flying kick from ‘Do Bronx’ but Makhachev tagged him with a left hand that seemed to hurt him. The Russian Sambo champion took down the Brazilian, though it looked like Oliveira wanted to take the bout on the mat. Makhachev looked in initial trouble as Oliveira went to work from the bottom.
When Oliveira stood up and pressured Makhachev, the Russian slammed him down again with a beautiful throw. The Sambo champion put Oliveira near the fence and used it to his advantage.
In the second round, Makhachev had some difficulties on the feet, but the Russian showed his striking was as good as his grappling when he put down Oliveira on the canvas with a timely shot. The Brazilian did not get his rest when going to the ground, as with other opponents as the Sambo champion followed Oliveira to the ground and submitted the greatest submission artist in UFC history.

In the post-fight interview, Makhachev opened up about Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father & his coach’s words. After the fight, in the post-fight interview when Makhachev gave the belt to ‘The Eagle’, he took the microphone and called out pound for pound king Alexander Volkanovski to a fight in Australia.
