The UFC has been home to several outstanding and legendary MMA fighters, who’ve captivated fans worldwide and proved why the UFC is the biggest platform in this sport. The CEO, Dana White, recently shared his biggest four stars ever, and in an interesting take, the 55-year-old did not mention either undefeated legend Khabib Nurmagomedov or the only women’s doubles champion, Amanda Nunes.

As expected, Dana White named Jon Jones first, who’s been his favorite fighter since the heavyweight champion stepped foot inside the Octagon. Also, up there with ‘Bones’ also lies Ronda Rousey due to her enormous contribution to WMMA. “I will go with Jon Jones. You have to go with Ronda Rousey. Women would not be fighting in the UFC if it wasn’t for her,” Dana White told ESPN.

Dana White also named Georges St-Pierre among the best ever, while capping off with Conor McGregor, whose contribution to MMA on a global level can never be compared to any other fighter in the history of this sport. “You would have to put GSP in there, and absolutely, positively, Conor McGregor. He elevated and changed the game globally,” White added.

These picks for UFC’s Mount Rushmore could be controversial for some and may spark major debate among MMA fans and pundits. But why did he snub Khabib Nurmagomedov and Amanda Nunes? Well, let’s inspect that a little bit.

Possible reasons why Dana White didn’t have Khabib Nurmagomedov and Amanda Nunes in his top four

The snubbing of Khabib Nurmagomedov might be seen as a surprising one because, besides having a squeaky clean record, ‘The Eagle’ is also one of the most recognized MMA fighters in the world. Even legends from other sports have come out as fans of the Dagestani phenom. However, Dana White had earlier come clean as to what he thought of Nurmagomedov’s career, where he mentioned wanting to see the 29-0 legend fight a bit more.

“I think Khabib had the potential to be in the running for [greatest of all time]. He just didn’t stick around long enough… But there’s no doubt Khabib is one of the all-time greats,” Dana White told Lex Fridman earlier this year. On the other hand, Amanda Nunes, there is no reason why she wouldn’t be one of the best since she’s arguably the greatest female MMA fighter of all time. But if we analyze White picking Ronda Rousey, it wasn’t based on stats but more on her influence in MMA.
