UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov had spoken to the media following his brother’s UFC debut back in January 2021. Umar Nurmagomedov went to battle against Sergey Morozov at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs Magny and had a great showing. Umar Nurmagomedov won out his debut via RNC submission at just 03:39 of the very first round.

Chiefly, Morozov had no answer for Umar Nurmagomedov’s speed and thrusting power that kept his striking lively and electric. Furthermore, he showed the shades of greatness that have become native to all of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s main pupils. ‘The Eagle’ has eased into his role as Head Coach and some are already booking early ‘Coach of the Year’ honors.

Khabib Nurmagomedov touches on Umar Nurmagomedov’s debut

The Eagle’ candidly broke down his brother’s debut in the UFC and praised his kicking ability. Chiefly, the dexterity and power of his kicks were on full display and Khabib Nurmagomedov was confident that it’s Umar’s biggest asset. Moreover, he also expressed a desire to see an improved stand-up game from Umar Nurmagomedov going forward.

“It was expected you know, Umar have very good kicks, he have very good kick. And his kick is much better than his boxing but I want his boxing to become good like his kick then he going to be like amazing because his kicks like very fast, very hard, like heavy you know. But he need a little bit more, Tyson Style.”

“Like between rounds, just I told him, ‘Hey, calm down, relax, take you time, don’t rush. You have to relax and do your job. He did well, like out of 5, I give him 4.”
