Khabib Nurmagomedov has been an ambassador of the sport for quite some time now. ‘The Eagle’ appears on all major MMA promotions. Reporters never fail to get an insight into some of the Russian fighters from him. Similarly, in Nurmagomedov’s own Eagle FC. He commented on some Russian fighters and what he thinks of them. One question that was intriguing and got the fans excited was the return of former featherweight Zabit Magomedsharipov. ‘The Eagle’ had some interesting things to say about his friend.

Zabit Magomedsharipov last fought inside the UFC octagon in November 2019. He won the fight against Calvin Kattar at UFC Fight Night 163.

Khabib Nurmagomedov on Magomedsharipov’s retirement and a potential comeback

‘The Eagle’ stepped inside the octagon. However, it was just to give an interview. The reporter asked him about Zabit’s retirement and his relationship with Magomedsharipov. Nurmagomedov replied “Of course , we are good friends and always talk but we didn’t discuss his retirement. I think he left because of personal reasons. It’ll be interesting to talk to him about it.”

Furthermore, when asked if we will ever see Magomedsharipov inside the octagon, Nurmagomedov said, “Unlike me, he didn’t promise his mother. If you pique his interest, anything is possible. 50/50.”

Fans react to Nurmagomedov breaking out Magomedsharipov’s news

Fan reacted by commenting their delight on potentially seeing the former featherweight.  A social media user said, “Yes come back and destroy” and another said, “Wellllllll Zabit is an absolute KILLER so ya I get it !!!!” Some of the fans were confident of his return and said, “He will 100% fight again.”

Furthermore, one fan jokingly compared Nurmagomedov with UFC President Dana White and said “Khabib White”

A social media user snarkily made a comment on ‘The Eagle’s’ retirement. Moreover, they said, “For someone who tells others to respect his decision to retire I find it ironic Khabib would say this about Zabit.”

Some even joke about Russian domination in the UFC, “Khabib wants him to take over the FW division or LW division if Islam moves up to take WW spot”

Citing the reasons for retirement, one commenter said, “God willing he will come back. The man left for health reasons so it’s a matter of that” and “Just no 5 rounders”

Additionally, a social media user said that one of his favorite fighters was the former UFC featherweight, “Zabit one of my favorite fighters I’ve watched”
