Khabib Nurmagomedov Defends Dana White While Taking Aim At Boxing Community With Floyd Mayweather Example

From a successful fighter to a promoter, the Russian seems to see the MMA business a little differently nowadays. Even as a fighter, he had a good relationship with UFC President Dana White. However, it seems like after establishing Eagle FC, he truly understands the lengths White and the UFC went to make big fights happen.

In a recent episode of ‘Full Send Podcast’, ‘The Eagle’ spoke about his ties with the UFC President. Khabib had several positive things to say about Dana White.

Revealing his current association with White, Khabib said, “I’m very good with Dana, you know. It’s like, like some people from MMA community, don’t like him. But I have big respect for this guy, you know.”

“… how many fights, how many fights he make like last 25 years. Like 20-25 years how many great fights he gave for fans around the world, you know. “

“For making one like good fight, they create two guys like years and years. Like for example, Pacquiao and Mayweather. They supposed to fight like 10 years ago. But they fight only like 2015-16. But it was not that they prime time… There is like a lot of matchup like this, boxing community, they cannot make together, you know,” he added.

Khabib isn’t too pleased with the weight class systems in boxing and the way top fights like ‘Mayweather vs Pacquiao’ takes years to materialize. Instead, he likes the more simplified ones that the UFC follows. Thus, talking about UFC’s system, he said, “I love the system, you know. If you’re the best, you’re gonna fight with the best.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov established Eagle FC back in 2020, and the promotion has conducted several events in Russia. However, they recently made their USA debut via Eagle FC 44 in January 2022. The event was a hit. As the Dagestani wishes to establish the promotion in the US, having more events in the country would be a good idea.
