MMA fans are not oblivious that Islam Makhachev considers Khabib Nurmagomedov as his Godfather. ‘The Eagle’ has been planning the rise of Makhachev to the pinnacle of the lightweight division and succeeded when he defeated Charles Oliveira to become the undisputed king of lightweights. He has also planned his compatriot’s future title defenses.

Nurmagomedov said, “I think he needs at least five [title defenses], maybe six. That would be ideal. Six defenses, that’s six fights and three years. Then it’s possible that the sport leaves him because nobody can stay on top forever.”

‘The Eagle’ always creates news that divides the audience. Some are opposed to the plan that he set. Consequently, some of the fans think that his plan for Makhachev is brilliant. A social media user said, “Islam Makhachev is gonna be greatest lightweight of all time if he does that and retires.”

While some fans had a major uproar and attacked the former UFC lightweight. One fan said, “Khabib fought once a year” and another said, “Atleast he wouldn’t retire in his prime like Khabib.” One social media user added, “Does Islam ever decide for himself.”

Some of the fans even question the mentality of the controversial UFC GOAT. They said, “Such a weak mindset. Leave before someone can beat you”. Another one said, “Already planning only 2 fights a year, which means most likely only one? That’s not a championship mentality.”

One particular fan suggested more fights from the current lightweight champion, “He should be fighting 3 times a year”

However, one social media user made an interesting prediction and revealed a possible future plan for Dagestanis. They said, “Then Usman [Nurmagomedov] comes as Islam transits out.”
