UFC 272 was nothing less than an incredible event. The fighters in the prelims and the main card showcased heart and skill like no other. Moreover, Colby Covington’s performance was so impressive that Khabib Nurmagomedov himself stood up to give the former a standing ovation.

The UFC 272 main event clash between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal did not disappoint one bit. Covington put up a dominant performance during the fight, using an art style of fighting that ‘The Eagle’ himself is most dominant with, wrestling.

Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 272

Having taken up the coach’s role now, the former lightweight champion was at UFC 272 to coach his cousin Umar Nurmagomedov. He was at the latter’s corner during his cousin’s fight, giving him essential pointers during the bout.

Naturally, Khabib stayed for the main event as well, and given his reaction to Covington‘s performance, he was not disappointed. Colby Covington out-wrestled his former teammate, now turned rival Jorge Masvidal.

‘The Eagle’ is known for his dominance with his combat Sambo style, which outlines a martial art that involves wrestling for the most part. Naturally, seeing another fighter win with a similar art set the former champ into an ovation frenzy.

Moreover, Covington’s rival, the current UFC welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman, was also present in the arena, and was sitting next to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

UFC 272: A night for fight fans to remember

UFC 272 was definitely a night to remember for fight fans. From all the fights that took place, three fights stood apart for three very different reasons. Maryna Moroz, the Ukrainian fighter, took home the win over Mariya Agapova in the preliminary fight card.

Moroz’s post-fight interview in the octagon was heartfelt and moving, where she talked about the situation in her home country Ukraine.

The co-main event was another fight that delivered fireworks. Viewers were absolutely ecstatic when the fight was going on. If it wasn’t for the main event, this fight would’ve stolen the show.

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Renato Moicano was a fight for the ages. Moicano, who came in as the underdog in a catchweight bout, showcased heart that represents the true nature of a fight. The ability to never give up despite the odds against your favor.

Finally, the main event between the two of the most famous welterweights currently was just the chef’s kiss. Colby Covington vs. Jorge Masvidal definitely lived up to its hype, with both fighters having their moments.
