Owing $3.3 million in debt to the Russian government, ‘The Eagle’ already had some of his business firms getting closed. But now, Nurmagomedov has found himself in a difficult financial situation as per a Russian media outfit known as ‘Mash’.

It was ‘Mash’ who broke the initial news about the inconsistencies in Khabib Nurmagomedov’s tax details a few weeks ago. Many people, including his arch-rival Conor McGregor, have reacted to this situation. But guess what? The Russian government recently financially handicapped the Russian star.

Russian Government seizes all the bank accounts of Khabib Nurmagomedov

The Russian media outfit recently reported that the Russian government has put the final nail in the coffin for Khabib Nurmagomedov by seizing all of his bank accounts, not just the ones associated with his businesses, but his personal accounts as well.

The Russian version of the IRS, the Federal Tax Service, started looking into the details of the businesses of Khabib Nurmagomoedov even before he left MMA in 2023 and started his other endeavors. After the FNS examined his businesses, they found certain irregularities and that ended up causing a full investigation of all the financial statements.

The investigation continues regarding the $3.3 million (around 300 million Rubles) tax evasion charges. It has been usual for fans to witness a legend and a professional like ‘The Eagle’ getting embroiled in such a legal situation. However, until the final details of the investigation come out, we cannot make premature assumptions about it.

But what does this mean for his protege Islam Makhachev? Will he be able to have Khabib Nurmagomedov in his corner this year once again? Makhachev wants to fight in November and it remains to be seen if Nurmagomedov returns to corner him once again like he did for his all-important title defense against Dustin Poirier. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s gym in Makhachkala, Dagestan, was subject to a raid carried out by the Russian armed forces amidst an already difficult time with the tax evasion charges at play. But why was Nurmagomedov’s gym searched? Well, recently, a tragic attack took place in Dagestan, and the raid on ‘The Eagle’s gym was an operational measure taken by the armed forces so as to leave no spot unchecked.

Several videos have popped up on social media showing dozens and dozens of military and law enforcement personnel surrounding Khabib Nurmagomedov’s gym. However, there has been no report of any legal action being taken on any of the members of ‘The Eagle’s MMA gym as we wait for further developments on this front.
