Not even one week removed from his loss against Charles Oliveira, Tony Ferguson already has a potential opponent. However, it isn’t exactly a fighter who has called him out but renowned MMA manager, Ali Abdelaziz.
Following Ferguson’s one-sided loss against rising contender Oliveira, Abdelaziz wasted no time in downplaying Ferguson on social media. Both Ferguson and Oliveira possess exceptional jiu-jitsu skills. However, the Brazilian exerted his dominance over ‘El Cucuy’ in an unprecedented manner. This led to Abdelaziz labeling the former interim champ as a ‘white belt’.

When Ferguson got wind of the comments, he fired back at the CEO of Dominance MMA. This led to Ali clapping back at Ferguson and claiming that he is now reduced to the status of a ‘gatekeeper’.
Ali has had a habit of inserting himself into the feuds of his clients. He has had similar back and forth with Conor McGregor and Colby Covington as well. However, this time around, he is willing to put his money where his mouth is.
When a fan asked Abdelaziz if he wants to fight Ferguson in a Submission Underground event, he replied positively.
Yes 💯 https://t.co/OFPPSmYm3i

Ali Abdelaziz claims Khabib Nurmagomedov would’ve crippled Tony Ferguson
With Ferguson dropping his last couple of fights in a one-sided manner, there are questions if ‘El Cucuy’ would’ve actually given the lightweight champ a run for his money. The fight between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov fell out multiple times. However, many still believed until a short while ago that Ferguson’s unorthodox transitions may have been the key to overcome the dominance of ‘The Eagle’.
However, Abdelaziz surely isn’t one of those. He has an unwavering belief in the ability of his client and even claimed that Nurmagomedov would cripple Ferguson.

Abdelaziz even speculated that Ferguson’s status in one of the most stacked divisions of the UFC will be nothing more than that of a ‘gatekeeper’. He added that he will simply be fodder for the up-and-coming fighters.

While Ali deserves praise for agreeing to fight Ferguson in a grappling contest, that doesn’t change the fact that he will be at a massive disadvantage if it does come to fruition. Ferguson is a black belt under Eddie Bravo and holds numerous submission victories over elite UFC fighters. Despite his recent form, he’ll still be a huge favorite to outclass Abdelaziz on the mat.
