Khabib Nurmagomedov is undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters to enter a UFC octagon. He absolutely demolished every single opponent he faced in his professional career and has racked up wins over some of the best in the business. The Dagestani holds an outstanding professional record of 29 wins and no losses.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has beaten fighters such as Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje. He was a former UFC lightweight champion and has had three successful title defenses. The fighter holds the record for the Longest Lightweight champion reign in UFC history.

In a recent interview with the Nelk Boys, on the Full Send podcast, Nurmagomedov discussed coming out of retirement to fight Khamzat Chimaev.

Khabib immediately shut down the idea of fighting Chimaev as the ‘Borz’ is a welterweight fighter. The Dagestani said,” He’s welterweight. I never fight in welterweight. Oh, he fights in middleweight too. ”

He then went on to talk about coming out of retirement. Khabib said, “There is like a lot of challenge, you know? Like.. even right now Charles Oliveira he’s very good too. There is always going to be some champions. With me or without me. But who cares? I’m finished now.”
According to what Nurmagomedov said in the interview, it is evident that he is not interested in returning to action anymore.

Why did Khabib Nurmagomedov retire from the UFC?
Nurmagomedov announced his retirement after his third title defense against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. He retired on account of the tragic death of his father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. His father was not only a parent figure in his life but was also his mentor and coach. He often attributes his success to his father and holds him responsible for his achievements.

Khabib said that he made a promise to his mother that he would not continue fighting without the support of his father. Despite many efforts by Dana White and the UFC to get him to come out of retirement, the fighter has stayed true to his promise.
