Georges St-Pierre might return for a grappling event this December, but who would he fight next? The fight fans always wanted to see a bout between Georges St-Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Nurmagomedov retired in 2021. ‘The Eagle’ announced his retirement from the sport with a clean record of 29-0. Hence, many wanted to see the Russian fighter lock horns with another UFC legend.

St-Pierre retired from the sport in 2013. Back then, he was the reigning welterweight champion. Later, he came back in 2017 to fight Michael Bisping. The two fighters have greatly impressed the fight fans with their perfect dominance in the UFC octagon during each fight. During his time in the promotion, ‘Rush’ conquered heights, which included belts in two different weight divisions. Now, it seems that GSP is planning to come back to fight another strong fighter, and fans are curious to know if he will come back to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Georges St-Pierre takes the name of Khabib Nurmagomedov

In an interview with ‘MMA Junkie’, the UFC Hall of Famer discussed his plans to compete in a grappling event. According to St-Pierre, he is actively engaged in discussions with the UFC. He said, “I received a list from UFC today and we’re gonna watch. We’re gonna check and look who’s available and I’m gonna take a decision with UFC and with my people to make sure we go up against someone dating that the people want to see me to compete against.”

After listening to St-Pierre’s answer, the reporter was curious to know if he would fight Khabib Nurmagomedov next. Recently, Nurmagomedov has been posting photos of him training hard; hence, many speculate that he is coming back to fight St-Pierre.

Regarding the possibility, GSP said, “ It could be, it could be. There’s a lot of other potential, interesting matchup, but it could be. Everybody has a different agenda, a different schedule and we’ll see.From the words of St-Pierre, it is clear that there is a possibility that the UFC has offered Khabib Nurmagomedov for the upcoming grappling event.

The grappling match scheduled for December

A few months ago, ‘The Eagle’ took to his Instagram handle to post a video of him working out. Along with the video, he wrote that he was getting ready for July. After coming across the post, fans speculated that GSP and Nurmagomedov would come face-to-face in a grappling match in July.
