

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dana White share a cordial relationship, even after ‘The Eagle’ hung his gloves. However, the recent comments from the former lightweight fighter suggest the two are not on the same page with what’s next for the lightweight division.

While Nurmagomedov has successfully turned into a role of a promoter with Eagle FC, he still cares about what’s happening with his former division. Chiefly, when his protégé, Islam Makhachev, is on the cusp of being the next title challenger.
In an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, ‘The Eagle‘ revealed details of his conversation with UFC President Dana White.

“Honestly, this is [the] first time, since when we like, talk to each other, he don’t respond [to] me,” said Nurmagomedov.

‘The Eagle’ revealed he sent a message to the UFC President proposing Islam Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title, but White didn’t return his texts.

The Russian also added, “I think he was busy, maybe. This is first time, first time, but it’s okay. Everybody makes mistake.”
Later, Nurmagomedov accepted a potential TUF season with Tony Ferguson. However, he was more focused on the UFC President leaving him on standby. He said, “If they are interesting, if Dana respond [to] my message, he have to first check; He have to check my [message].”

Also, the Dagestani revealed that White saw his messages, but did not get back to his Islam Makhachev-related message.
“I don’t wanna give him pressure. But, Dana, we have to finish two business – Islam Makhachev and Ultimate Fighter. Please call me back, brother,” said ‘The Eagle.’
The Russian even gave a warning to Dana White and said, “If you don’t call me back. I’m gonna be in Vegas. June; then you have to send me message like your location… Be careful Dana.”

It would be interesting to see when the two get back in touch and how they settle their beef.

The undefeated martial artist, Nurmagomedov, took about no damage in his 13-fight UFC career. Likewise, his protégé, Islam Makhachev, apart from a T/KO loss, has been flawless inside the Octagon.

Nurmagomedov’s father always wanted Makhachev to be next as soon as Nurmagomedov left the belt. Though it didn’t turn out to be the case, ‘The Eagle’ believes now is the perfect chance for Makhachev to get the UFC lightweight strap back to Dagestan.
And he has a place in mind for Makhachev’s coronation.
