With this win, Makhachev will continue his reign as the lightweight champion. Makhachev’s dominance against Volkanovski has earned substantial praise from his teammate Khabib Nurmagomedov. It also drew unnecessary criticism from Conor McGregor‘s friend Dillon Danis.

Dillon Danis uses derogatory language in response to Makhachev’s win

Islam Makhachev’s spectacular performance against the featherweight goat Alexander Volkanovski was unseen in ‘Volk’s career. The first fight between Volkanovski and Makhachev was a close one. But the rematch witnessed Makhachev deliver a masterful, one-sided performance that left no room for doubt.

Makhachev’s stunning masterclass was praised by his teammate and former lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov. The former champion took to his X(Formerly Twitter) to shower words of praise for Makhachev. Nurmagomedov also added the reason why he was not in Makhachev’s corner during the bout.

He said “Best fighter in the world today. Love you Brother and congratulations @islam_makhachev. If you guys ask me where have I been? Why wasn’t I in the corner, I already answered this question. I don’t go to fights, I don’t go to the comer and I completely left everything related to MMA. I ask you to accept my decision the same way my brothers, friends, and sparring partners did. What our team achieved will forever be in the history of MMA.”

Despite a masterclass performance and shutting his haters down, there were few who still tried to demean the champion even after he won against Volkanovski. Conor McGregor’s friend Dillon Danis took to the internet to add a comment about Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. He added the term “Two Rats” in response to Makhachev’s win and Nurmagomedov’s praise.

Khabib Nurmagomedov continues to praise Islam Makhachev

Khabib Numragomedov didn’t only praise Makhachev on X (formerly Twitter). The former champion took to his Instagram handle to celebrate the magnificent victory of Islam Makhachev, carrying forward his enduring legacy. The ‘Eagle’ shared an image of the match and captioned it as “Discipline, hard work and patience are all about Islam makhachev Currently the best in the game, may Allah protect you brother for good”
