Aljamain Sterling returns at UFC 267 to fight Petr Yan

Sterling will look to defend his title for the first time at UFC 267 against Petr Yan. ‘Funkmaster’ won the strap when he defeated Yan at UFC 259. However, the stoppage of that contest came because of an illegal knee from Yan. So, fans believe Sterling isn’t quite the legitimate champion yet unless he beats the Russian fair and square.

A rematch has been touted since the first meeting at UFC 259. It is finally set to happen at UFC 267. However, Sterling will have to work on his skills ahead of the fight. Many believed he would have the advantage in grappling, heading into the contest. But, he got taken down several times by ‘No Mercy‘ during that fight. He could barely dominate his opponent on the ground.

Funkmaster‘ will need to be sharp on the ground if he wants to win, as Yan is certainly the sharper striker between the duo. So, it will be interesting to see how both fighters can impose their skills in the rematch.
