After Israel Adesanya’s devastating loss against underdog Sean Strickland, the MMA town was buzzing about a rematch. Dana White’s post-match statement that a rematch sounds plausible further fueled this fire. In a recent development, however, he has cleared the air on this.

Acknowledging that many fighters did not get a chance to fight for the title, he said he might consider them for the next games. This makes it clear that while the highly anticipated rematch could indeed materialize sometime in the distant future, chances of it happening now remain bleak. Now, soon after this, a prominent welterweight fighter and former teammate of Khabib Nurmagomedov has dropped a bomb of a prediction about who will be ‘The Last Stylebender’s’ next opponent.

Israel Adesanya and the tale of two predictions

None other than Belal ‘Remember the Name’ Muhammad, the UFC no.3 welterweight fighter, has predicted the next fight for ‘Izzy’. The welterweight contender and Israel Adesanya have been taking each other’s names for some time now. However, given ‘Remember the Name’s track record with predictions, this might also end up like his other predictions.

Muhammad had made predictions before this that did not come through, such as Izzy would overthrow Strickland and easily ‘outclass’ him. Adesanya had also not held back when asked about Muhammad. He had pointed out that ‘Remember the Name’ has good skills, but Gilbert Burns was a cut above him.

The 185-pound champ had said, “Belal’s always making noise, he’s always speaking. What do they say? Empty barrels make a hell of a noise…. He’s got good wrestling and grappling, but I think Gilbert is a notch or two above him. He’s hung with the best in the world.” However, ‘Izzy’s prediction too failed as the American-born fighter defeated Burns in the fight at UFC 288.

Now, it seems Muhammad is back to making predictions. In a new development, writing on his X handle, ‘Remember the Name’ states that Kevin Holland has a chance of overthrowing Jack Della Maddalena. According to him, after defeating the Australian, ‘Trailblazer’ can be Adesanya’s next big opponent.

Currently, his X post with over a hundred comments gives away mixed reactions from his followers. While many hope Holland really comes through, others believe that Holland is simply no match for Jack Della Maddalena.

Holland vs. Maddalena- a tale of  winning streaks

Vegas will soon witness yet another UFC epic showdown on September 16, 2023 with Noche UFC. Maddalena returns to the Octagon to defend his enviable UFC record of 5-0 and make it 6-0. On the other hand, Holland has bagged two consecutive wins after beating Michael Chiesa and Santiago Ponzinibbio. He will be looking to extend his winning streak to three. There is certainly no love lost between the two.

Previously, Holland had stated that if the promotion paid for the taxes, he would be ready to take on Maddalena ‘any place’. When his absence from Australia was deemed as his hesitation to face Maddalena, Holland had clarified with MMA Junkie that- “Old boy keeps crying about not being able to fight in Australia. Motherf*cker, if you were worth somebody coming out to Australia to fight you, they would’ve made sure somebody came to Australia to fight you. You’ve got a Timex sponsorship. Be happy with that and shut the f*ck up. Bam. My bad. See, y’all are getting me in that zone. I’m trying not to go there.”

With things heating up, fans eagerly await a reaction to Belal’s X post from either Holland or Maddalena! What transpires this Saturday is yet to be seen. Who do you think will emerge as a champion at the T-Mobile Arena? Will Kevin Holland become Israel Adesanya’s next opponent? Tell us in the comments below.
