Years after the events of UFC 229, the beef between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov still dominates discussions in the MMA realm. UFC 229 and the stories revolving around it are indeed some of the unforgettable moments for the MMA faithful. One such scene that is still talked about is the trash talk between the fighters. After about 6 years, the Dagestani warrior’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, still hasn’t let bygones be bygones.

Gilbert Burns, on his talk show, ‘Home of Fight’, invited Abdelaziz. Therein, the manager revealed things he disliked about the Irish fighter’s trash talk. Abdelaziz has talked about McGregor quite a few times. But this instance shows the respect he has for his clients and their family.

In an episode of ‘Home of Fight’, ‘Durinho’ asked Abdelaziz about the kind of relationship he has with ‘The Notorious’. The Egyptian executive blurted out that he simply did not like McGregor. “I don’t like him.” And the reason behind the scorning was nothing but respect.

“He talk bad about my friend’s family, father, wife. Somebody talk about his wife or his kids something, it’s on site. 100% it’s a fight. If you want to talk about Khabib, okay, talk. I understand. He call me like a terrorist. He’s like, it’s okay. But when you start going to family stuff, you know, if I manage a client, and you fought, Gilbert, and he talk about his kids? Same day. I will not be with this, this guy ever again. I tell guys when they fight, they fight. Promote, talk about each other. But don’t include people’s family. This is, for me, it’s off-limit.”, said the Egyptian.

However, this was not the only instance where Abdelaziz tackled the ‘Mystic Mac’ with his words. The spat between the Dubliner and the Dagestani team began way before UFC 229 was announced. With Nurmagomedov’s victory over McGregor, the Dagestani camp found a memorial to shush McGregor whenever he seemed to cross the limits.

Back when the fight with Michael Chandler was still in discussion, the Irishman faced boatloads of scrutiny for apparently avoiding fights. But when a fan asked McGregor about which former opponent would he fight again, he named ‘The Eagle’. In a now-deleted tweet, he wrote, “Khabib. He is fighting’s biggest chicken.”

Without a doubt, the tweet found a great deal of attention from the MMA community. Of course, Abdelaziz was one of them. But the Egyptian couldn’t let it be. He took to X and reminded the Irishman of his defeat at the hands of the former UFC lightweight champion.

“[Conor McGregor] this is the only reason your a** still hurt stop talking sh*t because the world is very small be careful b*tch,” Abdelaziz wrote, along with a picture of Nurmagomedov in control of McGregor during their fight.
