Khabib’s Cousin Umar Nurmagomedov Admits to Having ‘Sadness’ as Dana White and UFC Fails to Finalise His Fight- “Spending Life in the Gym”

Umar Nurmagomedov has yet to complete a year in the UFC and is already frustrated. ‘Young Eagle’ currently holds a record of 16-0-0 in his career but is desperately waiting for his next fight. In a recent X post, Nurmagomedov shared his feelings after the UFC failed to set up his next fight. 

The Dagestani fighter made his UFC debut against Sergey Morozov in January 2021 and won the fight via a rear naked choke. While the 14-ranked bantamweight has impressed one and all with his fighting skills, he is still waiting for his next fight.

‘Young Eagle’ may have started his UFC career with a bang but has not participated in any fight in the previous year. Although he was scheduled to face Cory Sandhagen in August, the matchup got canceled after the Dagestani fighter suffered a shoulder injury. His inactivity from the Octagon has resulted in frustration, and the bantamweight fighter used his X account to share his feelings. 

In a recent tweet, Nurmagomedov shared: “Sadness Just spending life in the gym Expecting any rewards. If anybody want to fight. I am on the same number”

The bantamweight fighter was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs Imavov. He faced Raoni Barcelos and dominated the fight and secured a win via knockout in the first round. ‘Young Eagle’ has impressed everyone with his recent performances, and it will be interesting to see who the fighter faces next.

Umar Nurmagomedov has currently amassed a record of 4-0 in a very brief UFC career. The Dagestani fighter has always been a highly-rated prospect, much before his debut in the UFC. Having the same blood relation with Khabib Nurmagomedov, many have compared the bantamweight fighter to the UFC legend, and his nickname also suggests the same. The combat Sambo expert not only won his debut fight but also defeated veteran fighters, Brian Kelleher and Nate Maness.

Before his Octagon debut, he fought in high-profile MMA promotions including the PFL and Fight Nights Global. He has also won a belt at the Gorilla Fighting Championship, the same championship that Khabib Nurmagomedov purchased and renamed it as the Eagle Fighting Championship.
