Khamzat Chimaev will make his much-awaited return to the octagon against #6 ranked middleweight, Paulo Costa in the co-main event for UFC 294 next month. The card will be headlined by the much-awaited rematch between Charles Oliveira and lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

UFC boss Dana White had recently talked about the Chimaev being the fighter fans want to see in action most, after Conor McGregor. The undefeated fighter has been a veritable juggernaut in the promotion stopping all his opponents in the UFC, except for Gilbert Burns. And in another act that will endear him to fans, ‘Borz’ took on a fan in arm wrestling after being challenged by the latter.
Khamzat Chimaev takes on fan in arm wrestling
In a video that has surfaced on Instagram, Khamzat Chimaev is approached by a fan who puts up his elbow on the table and raises his palm, challenging the Chechen to an arm wrestle. Chimaev accepted the challenge without hesitation and proceeded to down his opponent’s arm with ease, with his signature villainous smile on his lips.

The dejected fan accepts defeat, gets up and leaves. And while he may have lost in humiliating fashion, he at least tried. “Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all” as Tennyson would say. Fans, of course, found the whole incident quite amusing and took to Twitter to make their thoughts known.

Expectations from Chimaev will be high at UFC 294. A dominant performance against Costa will silence his critics who accuse him of being an over-hyped fighter who has not fought enough good fighters to warrant it. A loss, however, will dent his reputation and raise questions about his seriousness and commitment to the sport since becoming popular.
