Khamzat Chimaev is certainly one of the dominant fighters in the UFC. However, he does have some weaknesses in his game as pointed out by ‘The Count’. ‘Borz’ will take on Robert Whittaker on June 22 in Saudi Arabia in a five-round fight. Whittaker is fresh off a victory against Paulo Costa at UFC 298 and high on confidence. ‘The Reaper’ is one of the most conditioned athletes in the division and going five rounds against him will be a tough ask. Bisping also feels the same.

In his recent video, he mentioned why Chimaev may struggle in a five-round fight. He said, “So the first five-round fight that he’s been in. Which automatically if you’re in the corner of Khamzat Chimaev you got to be concerned. One thing Robert Whittaker is not going to do is run out of gas. He’s very, very experienced fighting at the highest level for the long time. Without getting into the X’s and O’s, the obvious thing is Khamzat always gases. He’s a tremendous force of nature. I mean, the way he takes people down and dominates them right from the opening bell.”

Chael Sonnen explains why ‘Borz’ is not the number-one contender anymore

Khamzat Chimaev was definitely one of the top contenders for the middleweight title before his absence. After a dominating performance against Kamaru Usman, many felt he would get a title shot next. However, destiny had other plans as he suffered from injuries and sickness, which forced him to stay out of action. During his absence, the middleweight division found itself a new king, and many felt ‘Borz’ would get a title shot next. Chael Sonnen, in his recent video, shared his opinion on the upcoming fight.

He said, “This rumor is not new, and the last fight that Chimaev may have had was said to be a number one contenders match. Chimaev may have won, so it feels as though Chimaev has already qualified for the title match. “Now, this industry changes really fast, right? And I will remind you that it was a co-main event spot. So Chimaev is being rewarded, he is being promoted. He will now take over a main event spot, which I believe is his first time.”
