I’m always ready for the fights. I don’t care if people think I’m joking, fighting like Brock Lesnar or thinking of fighting Jon Jones. I don’t mind if I lose, man. I’m human, I can lose; everything can happen.” said Chimaev.

The fighter further explained that he enjoys looking at challenges and overcoming them. “But a fight is a fight, it’s a funny thing for me. I can do it with my life, you know. So, I’m happy in the cage. If somebody punches me, if I punch them, it’s all part of the game. I’m bleeding, no problem. That’s the war for me, and I feel alive all the time, you know, like when people are killing each other. So, I like to be in the war, you know, always”

Chimaev vs. Jones?

The interviewer inquired about Chimaev’s opinion on a hypothetical matchup between Jon Jones and himself during their prime years. Chimaev stated that it all comes down to the weight class. He then commended the current heavyweight champion for his previous encounter with his teammate, Alexander Gustafsson. However, he also indicated that the outcome would depend on the specific weight class they would compete in.“For sure I want to fight with (Jon Jones) so it will be a big history if we fight. Since Alex gave him the best fight in history, now maybe it’s my time to fight him, as well.”

Chimaev’s statement caught the attention of Jones and he seemed to be not happy with the Emriti. The fighter took to X (Formerly Twitter) to add a comment about Chimaev’s words. He wrote, “Khamzat Chimaev stop it, don’t let people ask you those questions.”
