Khamzat Chimaev recently received advice from none other than the heavyweight GOAT, Jon Jones. Unfortunately, it wasn’t advice that would help him in the cage. Jon Jones has been out of action for the time being as he got himself injured during a sparring session and had to drop out of his bout against Stipe Miocic. But that doesn’t mean he can’t drop in to school the undefeated middleweight fighter.

However, ‘Borz’ is no helpless student of the combat sport either. He’s made his shift to middleweight and even after admitting that Jones is perhaps the greatest, he’s not afraid of fighting him. Here’s how he responded to Jon Jones’ advice over a viral video.

Khamzat Chimaev can laugh it all off

Khamzat Chimaev recently sat down to have a conversation where he was asked about Jones. More specifically, he was asked whether or not he thought he could take down one of the greatest fighters to ever step inside the cage. And he had nothing but praise for ‘Bones’.

He admitted to liking his training routines, appreciating his experience as a fighter and just about everything he does inside the cage. However, as a fighter, Chimaev would never back off from a challenge. So if he had to fight Jones, here’s how he thought it would go.

“Depends on which weight class”. Chimaev laughed. “For sure I want to fight with (Jon Jones) so it will be a big history if we fight. Since Alex gave him the best fight in history, now maybe it’s my time to fight him, as well.”

Here, Chimaev is speaking about Alexander Gustaffson who once fought Jones and has also been a training partner to ‘Borz’. Jones was quick to tell Chimaev to not even dream up such scenarios by tweeting, “Khamzat Chimaev stop it, don’t let people ask you those questions.”

Now, on an Instagram post, Chimaev has responded by merely putting up laughing emojis as if mocking ‘Bones’ for his X post. He also threw in a ninja emoji. Either way, do you believe this will get back Jones’ attention?

Will we see Jones at UFC 300?

Jon Jones is currently in recovery. He was wrestling with his sparring partner when he tore a pectoral tendon putting him out of action for good. However, recently, ‘Bones’ revealed that the UFC was happy with letting him fight at UFC 300.

“I was actually called and offered to fight on the event. The guys said they just wanted to give me the option. We both knew I wouldn’t be ready.” He told a fan on X in recent times. Clearly, an injury of this scale will take longer to heal than just a few months.

Nonetheless, will this also force the hand on Jones’ retirement? The fighter had presented with every indication to retire after winning his Miocic fight. Will he still stand on the same stance? Let us know your thoughts.
