Earlier today Conor McGregor and Ali Abdelaziz traded barbs on Twitter with each other. The CEO of Dominance MMA, Abdelaziz represents a number of high-profile fighters which include current UFC champions as well. Khamzat Chimaev, who has also signed with Dominance, backed up Abdelaziz following his online spat and has vowed to smash McGregor.

The back-and-forth between McGregor and Abdelaziz began after the former tweeted an open-ended message that looked like a call for a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, things took a sinister turn after McGregor made a reference to Abdelaziz’s, allegedly controversial past.

This led to Abdelaziz hurling multiple tweets towards McGregor. The MMA manager claimed that the Irishman was drunk while tweeting. However, McGregor didn’t reply following this. Amidst all this, Khamzat Chimaev seems to have taken note of his manager’s tweets on Twitter.

Tagging one such tweet from Abdelaziz, Chimaev fired back at McGregor.

“Don’t worry big brother I’m going to smash this chicken for you,” the breakout star wrote on Twitter.

Khamzat Chimaev will step inside the Octagon in the same week as Conor McGregor

Both Chimaev and McGregor have their fights lined up for next month on Fight Island. While Chimaev faces Leon Edwards, McGregor will headline UFC 257 against Dustin Poirier. With the two on Fight Island simultaneously, the possibility of a confrontation between the two is already getting the fans excited.

Chimaev has been very vocal about his dislike for McGregor. Following his three stoppage wins within a short period of time, Chimaev didn’t hold himself back and even said he wanted to fight ‘The Notorious One’. In an interview, he narrated how he traveled to Ireland so that he can beat up McGregor.

Following the first-round KO of Gerald Meerschaert, Chimaev has had a hard fight getting an opponent. Several names such as Neil Magny and Stephen Thompson have been linked to him for a fight. However, Chimaev will instead face one of the top-ranked contenders in the division in the form of Leon Edwards.

One of the unluckiest fighters of 2020, Edwards, will return to action following a layoff of eighteen months. If ring rust doesn’t affect ‘Rocky’, he will, without a doubt, be the toughest test of Chimaev’s professional career.
