29-year-old Khamzat Chimaev defeated Kamaru Usman at UFC 294 via decision and cemented his place in the middleweight division. However, he had to take a break from the sport because of illness. The Swede is now making a comeback against Robert Whittaker in Saudi Arabia. While many believe that the fight is a perfect match, Sonnen doesn’t quite agree with it. According to him, ‘The Reaper’ doesn’t have much to gain from the fight. He even claimed that the fight might just get scratched off because of this reason.

He said, “There’s a lot of things that you look at it historically speaking by Robert Whittaker standard this is a quick turn around and a very difficult match with not as much on it. As generally Robert would like. It is the first time in Saudi Arabia. This will be the most views Robert has ever had in a fight. Is that enough to motivate him? Maybe. But if it’s not I’m not suggesting that the answer is you got to come in got to demand that that’s a number one contender match. That’s not my suggestion. My suggestion is if it’s not then this fight sooner or later is going to get scratched.”
