Despite obliterating his previous opponents, there has been no confirmed news about the dangerous Khamzat Chimaev’s next UFC fight. Reportedly, the Chechnyan native will be making a move up to Middleweight to avoid the weight-cutting issues he had faced previously. Many believe that ‘Borz’ is simply too large to cut his weight down to the 170lbs mark.

But, even though a few weeks have passed since the UFC boss, Dana White, revealed Chimaev’s move to Middleweight, there was still no confirmed news about his next fight. Amid all of these, ‘Borz’ also got into an online spat with the former UFC Welterweight kingpin, Kamaru Usman, which might lead them to a bout inside the Octagon. However, putting all that aside, Chimaev did something that left fans unhappy.

What did the fans have to say about Khamzat Chimaev?

Most fans lashed out at ‘Borz’ for indulging in leisurely activities, leaving apart their desires to watch him fight once again. Although the name of the famed UFC Middleweight, Paulo Costa had come up multiple times as ‘Borz’s’ next opponent, there was still no concrete news about the bout’s materialization.

Amid all this, Chimaev’s feud with the former UFC Welterweight kingpin, Kamaru Usman, was showing no signs to stop. The two also had no issues settling it out inside the Octagon. But Dana White, had an objection regarding only one point of this whole matchup.

White stated, “Usman’s calling him out, but at a catchweight. I don’t do catchweights. I don’t like catchweight. Catchweights mean nothing. They mean absolutely nothing.” But he also revealed his own condition to make this bout happen. The UFC supremo stated, “If [Usman] wants to move up to 185 and fight him, we can talk about it. But trying to fight him at a catchweight, I’m not interested in it.”

Amid such haze, regarding ‘Borz’s’ next bout, a large chunk of fans were rather enraged when they witnessed the Instagram video of Chimaev feeding a tame bear. The video was shared by the Instagram page, ‘HOME OF FIGHT’ and its caption read, “Rare footage of a wolf 🐺 feeding a bear 🐻”.

Most of their comments were about Chimaev neglecting the wish of his fans and indulging in casual activities. Some others presented different views as well.

  • Not often he gets to interact with something that could end him
  • Khamzat doing everything but fighting
  • Yeah he def never making 170 again
  • There is no way he’s making 170 any time soon
  • He got big
  • Khamzat i support you but instead of feeding bears go fight costa.
  • Khabib’s childhood sparing partner with wolf

Well, it may be said that most fans got it correct. Even if the bout between Usman and Chimaev happens, it definitely will not be at 170 lbs. Especially, looking at the trouble Chimaev has to face making that weight.

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
