Jon Jones made a triumphant return to the octagon at UFC 285 after a three-year hiatus. The 35-year-old submitted Ciryl Gane in the early minutes of the very first round to secure the UFC heavyweight title. In his post-fight speech, Jones thanked god, his family, and his team for helping him achieve his goal.

However, fans believe that Jones snubbed another important figure that helped him prepare for his heavyweight debut. They fired shots at Jones for not mentioning former UFC bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo in any of his post-fight speeches.

Jones trained with Cejudo while preparing to face Gane. After Jones’s win, Cejudo shared a clip of them practicing the same drill that Jones used in the fight to secure the submission victory.

Sharing the clip on his Instagram, Cejudo wrote, “If one thing you should know about Jon is his ability to soak up knowledge.” The former two-division champion further elaborated how he felt the position would be key to the fight. He congratulated Jones for implementing the same in the fight and securing the win.

In the clip, viewers could see Cejudo showing Jones how to switch positions when he has his opponent against the cage. The clip also shows how Jones implemented the technique against Gane in the fight.

Several fans applauded Cejudo’s fight IQ after watching the clip. However, some of them did not appreciate Jones not crediting Cejudo after learning so much from him.
