Layla Machdo finally reacts to Ian Garry’s victory

Last year, it came to light that Ian Garry’s wife had authored a book, years before their marriage, about how a lady could land herself a rich athlete (How to be a WAG). Initially, Garry had no response to it, but at the UFC 298 presser, the undefeated fighter stated, “I don’t care what people love me or hate me. I’m doing what I love.”

Now, Layla Machado has made a response of her own. “Number 6 in the world. Unapologetic, unbelievably technical and an unwavering mental strength. This was one of his most intelligent performances, sticking to the game plan and not letting the crowd influence a single movement. Ian faced a powerful & steadfast Geoff Neal who simply became more and more frustrated,” said Layla Machado in an Instagram post.

Enjoying her husband’s victory, Layla Machado emphasized in the caption that Garry showcased tremendous cardio and skill even though he suffered from Pneumonia that stalled his last matchup against Vicente Luque. Layla Machado explained that Garry is currently on the longest winning streak in the UFC welterweight division. “Now Ian becomes the fighter with the longest undefeated win streak in the welterweight division and the highest strike differential! No one can stop him now.”

Layla Machado’s response comes after a month of silence. Interestingly, in retrospect, Ian Garry’s statement was much harsher. Let’s see what the Irishman had to say to his critics.

“I don’t care what people love me or hate me. I’m doing what I love. I’m a kid who had a dream, and I’m up here living it, you know? I mean, I watched Conor go through everything that he went through. That’s the life I want to live. I want to put on a show. I want to fight for a living,” said Garry at the presser.

With confidence in his heart, Ian Garry is inching towards the welterweight title, but will it be enough for the Irishman to redeem himself? Only time has the answer for it. What’s your opinion about Garry’s stance? Tell us about it in the comments below.
