UFC CEO Dana White recently shared his concern for the staggering amount of traffic accidents in Las Vegas. Reports online indicate that in 2022, there were a total of 19,891 traffic collisions in the city. The figures also showed a steady increase in the number of pedestrian accidents in the city since 2021, an increase of approximately 15% when compared to previous years. Therefore, White took the time to share an important message to raise awareness about the issue on his social media account.

He shared a video of a law enforcement official highlighting the incorrect driving practices of the citizens. White’s post is also notable as earlier this year the UFC boss had shared how the passing away of an MMA fighter as a result of a tragic car accident deeply affected him. As such, let’s delve into what White had to share.

In the post shared by White on his Instagram story, he stated, “Hey Vegas residents watch this video!!” The video is of a law enforcement official driving down a highway in Las Vegas. He points out a driver who is passing from the left lane, a practice that impedes the flow of traffic.

The officer then pulled over the car and asked the driver if he was aware of what he just did. However, the driver responded by stating that he was following the speed limit, prompting the officer to explain that he pulled him over for passing incorrectly, and not because of his speed.

He ends the video by stating, “He gave the same argument a lot of people do, which is I was going the speed limit, and that’s not what this is about. It’s about the left lane for passing.”

Las Vegas, despite efforts to enhance road safety, continues to grapple with a concerning number of car accidents. According to data available online, in 2022, the city recorded 19,891 collisions, causing extensive property damage and 11,071 injuries. Pedestrian accidents surged by 15.5%, with 814 incidents, emphasizing the need for prioritizing road safety.

The city witnesses approximately 54 car accidents daily, reinforcing the significance of following traffic guidelines as emphasized in the video shared by White. White’s dedication to road safety also carries a personal resonance, as he was deeply impacted when the MMA community suffered a tragic loss with the passing of Shalie Lipp.

A tragic accident involving an MMA prospect deeply affected White

A rising prospect in the MMA scene, Shalie Lipp, tragically lost her life in a traffic accident earlier this year. Her death caused shockwaves in the MMA community, as Lipp had mentioned in her journal that ‘Dana White will know my name’, indicating her aspirations to join the UFC roster in the future.

Her passing deeply impacted White, who shared a social media post honoring the young woman. During a press conference, White also stated, “I know that girl. It hurt me bad. It messed me up for a few days.”

The UFC CEO also revealed that he had been in touch with the fighter’s mother once he received the news. He revealed, “I posted about her and I have talked to her mom a couple of times”

The emotional toll of Lipp’s passing underscores White’s genuine concern for the safety of individuals on the road and his commitment to honoring those who aspire to make a mark in the world of MMA.
