After almost two years of being out of action, former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor seems to be making a comeback, sometime later this year. But there is something that the Irishman and the UFC need to sort out before that could happen. Ever since his doctor-stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier due to a gruesome leg injury, Conor McGregor has been out of USADA’s testing pool. The athlete hasn’t been tested for over two years and needs to be cleared by the testing agency before he could step into the octagon again. For that, the Irishman needs to be tested twice, but ‘The Notorious’ hasn’t submitted a sample yet.

As per the USADAs website, all athletes must be in the testing pool regardless of their presence. This rules out any possibility of the UFC veteran returning to the octagon, but there is a catch. According to the MMA analyst and former UFC title contender, Chael Sonnen, there exists a loophole in the testing agency’s rule; something which the Irishman can easily exploit to escape being tested. Giving a breakdown of the rule, Chael highlighted the fact that UFC can make an exemption for Conor McGregor. This is given that he returns to the pool, six months before the competition. Questing the law, Chael said:
“Blah Blah Blah… competed in bouts, given the UFC, competed and made himself available six months before the competition, UFC which I believe to mean Ultimate Fighting Championship may grant an exemption. They may grant an exemption. So now the body, that’s being tested and overseen by the body has the authority to trump everybody. According to this.”

Chael further added that USADA didn’t test McGregor even when they could. This is something that the fighter can easily use in his defense. Thus, in short, could easily get away by just blaming USADA. In the past ‘The American Gangster’, himself has been in legal trouble with testing agencies. The former UFC title contender was suspended after a drug test for 1 year, following his loss to Anderson Silva. In that case, it was California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).

Steroid Accusations against Conor McGregor?
After his devastating loss to arc rival, Dustin ‘Diamond’ Poirier, Conor has made a splendid transformation. The fighter has gained some serious weight and muscle within the time frame. This led many to suspect possible PED abuse by the 34-year-old athlete. However, there is no evidence to support these accusations.
