“On Saturday night, I’m going to bring you to a place you never want to be. I’m going to bring you to the seventh level of hell. We’ll say what’s up to your dad while we’re there,” said Covington at the start of their fight. Team Edwards was enraged by this statement, it was such a hectic event for the welterweight champ that he cried in his dressing room. Well, when Covington was going against his ethics, Sean Strickland and Dana White came forward to support the champ.

Edwards’s father was involved in some questionable activities in his life of crime in the United Kingdom and finally, on one fateful night, he was shot dead.

Well, when Covington called Edwards’s father out, Sean Strickland came out of his bubble to attack ‘Chaos’ for his insensitive attack. The then-middleweight champion called out Covington a day after ‘Choas’ made the insensitive statement. He said, “Him making fun of Leon’s dad, that is the biggest f—–g c–t move you can do. That is the biggest c–t move to do.”

He further added, “Bad guy, good guy, it doesn’t f—–g matter. He raised a boy; (Edwards’ mom) raised a boy to be a f—–g man, to win a title, to be a good man. A real f—–g American would applaud him for that. They wouldn’t tear him down for that. So just so you know, Colby is a fake f—–g p—y, and if he was standing here right next to me, the only f—–g thing he would do is call 911 because he is the definition of a f—–g b—h.”

Strickland and Covington were having a bit of banter at that time.’ Chaos even stated that he would jump divisions to face Strickland for the middleweight belt. Well, ‘Tarzan’ was not the only person in the UFC to point out Covington’s dirty tactics, the UFC Supremo also called out Covington.

Dana White calls out Colby Covington for ‘Nasty’ tactics

After Colby Covington was defeated by Leon Edwards at the UFC 296, Dana White was asked about the disrespectful behavior ‘Chaos’ showcased before the clash. The media inquired whether the promotion did this intentionally to promote the fights. Dana White stated that bringing family into personal banter is a no-go for any fighter, “We are in the fight game. Lots of mean things are said and one of the things that I really don’t like is family.”

He further added, “[I don’t like] when you start going after family. Whether it’s the kids, the wives, the parents, or whatever, it’s just such a nasty thing to do. But again, this is one of those sports where you say horrible things, and then 24 hours later, it goes down. That’s why tonight you saw Leon’s corner going crazy and I went over and said, ‘Guys, listen. You won in the most dominant possible way to win… if this turns into what it could possibly turn into, he’s gonna get fined and it’s not worth it.”

After the hubbub, there was no mention of the event. White even stated that he has no control over what the fighters say to other fighters. Regardless, Edwards will be defending his title against Belal Muhammad this weekend. Fortunately, the two rivals have abstained from hitting the other below the belt despite their bad blood.
