But one thing is almost certain. Leon Edwards might have a chance to fight against Belal Muhammad after their welterweight fight in 2021 was deemed a draw.

After getting hints dropped by Edwards’ coach, the fighter’s presence in the deleted tweet apparently confirms the possibility of a bout against ‘Remember the Name’.

The last time UFC organized its events on British soil, Tom Aspinall secured a first-round victory over Marcin Tybura back in 2023. Therein, UFC CEO Dana White announced that the UFC would have a numbered pay-per-view event in England, in 2024. The now-deleted post by the UFC’s official handle read, “MANCHESTER, WE ARE BACK”, followed by the date, Saturday, 27th of July, 2024. The poster also declared that the tickets would be on sale from the 7th of June. Meanwhile, the poster is still available on UFC Europe Instagram handle.

Just a day before, coach Dave Lovell revealed that although ‘Rocky’ was not included in UFC 300, he might have a chance in Manchester, due to a high Muslim contingency. Lovell said, “Because he wasn’t on the 300 bill, no doubt there’s a big Muslim contingency in England in Manchester. So I think it will be Belal. It’s not written in stone, but 99.9 percent. I think it will be Belal.”

The connection is quite straightforward. With the deleted tweet and Lovell’s words pointing toward Manchester as the host for the big event, UFC 304 might be the day when Edwards would finally have a rematch with Muhammad.

Belal Muhammad was upset for UFC 300

After an accidental eye-poke turned the fight between Muhammad and the Jamaican champ into a no-contest, the two have been itching for a fight. While rumors about them clashing again at UFC 300 flew, it didn’t come to fruition. For UFC 300, the welterweight champion was presented with three names, Islam Makhachev, Khamzat Chimaev, and Shavkat Rakhmonov. It was indeed a shocker to see the list devoid of Muhammad’s name. Surprisingly, the promotion decided to scratch Edwards’ name, as well.

Soon, TheSchmoZone released a post that displayed Muhammad’s disappointment. In the post, the fighter quoted, “Three guys turned it down. If they really wanted Leon Edwards on 300, they know the guy. It would have been me”. The reason behind the promotion’s decision was later revealed by Tim Simpson during an interview with Ariel Helwani.

As per him, “Right after he fought Colby in December, Hunter [Campbell] came into the back… And I said ‘So what are we doing?’… And he was like ‘300’. And I told Leon ‘you might be on 300’… And I said to Hunter ‘Belal?’ And he’s like ‘we’ll see,’” The fight promotion simply couldn’t get the champ a suitable opponent for UFC 300.

But that’s water under the bridge now. With all the hints aiming for the title fight between the Jamaican and the American, all the fans need to do is wait and choose their favorites.
