‘Leon Edwards Just Lost the Title Shot to Colby Covington’- Gilbert Burns After UFC 263

Leon Edwards defeated Nate Diaz at UFC 263 in the first-ever non-title non-main or co-main event five-round fight in UFC history. Edwards dominated the fight, making it a rather one-sided affair. His opponent suffered nasty cuts and bled all over the octagon.

However, Diaz was extremely close to registering the biggest upset in Welterweight history in the last 30 seconds of the fight. The former UFC welterweight challenger Gilbert Burns brought this situation to attention. He tweeted, “Wow I think Leon just lost the title shot to Colby just cause how the fight ended #UFC263”

Excluding the no-contest with Belal Muhammad, this became the ninth straight win for ‘Rocky’. Despite that run, many people believe that he lost his welterweight title shot to Colby Covington.

This is because Edwards could not end his fight against Nate Diaz on a firm note. Although Edwards dominated the contest, Diaz wobbled him with a Stockton slap and a clean left hand that took some shine off his display.

Kamaru Usman has successfully defended his title four times against three different opponents. ‘Chaos’ fought the current welterweight champion at the main event of UFC 245 back in 2019. This was undoubtedly the hardest test for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’.

It was a close fight that ended in the last minute of the last round as Usman won the battle by T/KO. This fight helped to showcase the toughness of both the fighters to the entire world.
