Daniel Cormier thinks Edwards can’t out-wrestle Covington

Daniel Cormier looks forward to the main event fight at UFC 296 like no other. Covington has been looking to be the champion for some time now. His only time with the belt was when he was the interim champion back in 2018. Edwards, on the other hand, hasn’t dropped a fight in eight years. DC took to his YouTube channel to share further analysis on the bout.

“Colby’s been close. Leon has improved leaps and bounds from when he got to the UFC to the 11 fight unbeaten streak,” said Cormier. “To fighting Kamaru Usman the first time and losing the vast majority of the fight, to fighting Kamaru Usman the second time, in London, and winning the vast majority of the fight,” he added.

When Leon Edwards first faced off against Usman, ‘The Nigerian Nightmare‘ won the fight flawlessly via unanimous decision. This was back in 2015 and since then, Edwards has proven himself a force of nature. He has also defeated Usman twice since then. But Cormier still has his doubts as he felt that this fight would likely put the champion to a great test. Surviving against Colby in a fight of resilience won’t be easy.

“But then my question becomes this guys, it’s one thing to fight a wrestler, it’s another thing to fight a wrestler like Colby Covington.”
