

Joe Rogan hosts one of the biggest podcasts on Spotify. However, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ had come under attack, as many felt it was spreading misinformation. People were not happy with the subjects discussed on the podcast. Additionally, a video compilation of Rogan using slurs made the situation worse. Hence, many artists like Neil Young and others were unhappy with the UFC commentator.

What ensued was a big backlash. Both Rogan and Spotify came forward to address the issue, and the 54-year-old released a video on Instagram where he explained his side of the story.
Rogan, who recently appeared on Lex Fridman’s podcast, spoke about the controversies. He said, “I used mushrooms. That was one way I did it.”

“I took, it was probably less than a gram every day. And I did a lot of like really hard working out. But also, I mean, there’s a great benefit to going through anything difficult. And if you’re aware, like in advance and during, like anything that’s going to happen, that’s very difficult and troubling.”
“The great benefit is it gives you an opportunity to grow. Gives you an opportunity to express yourself under pressure. To show your character, to show who you truly are.”

The UFC commentator further spoke about the role media had to play and the way people would respond. He claimed his podcast got even bigger during that time. Thus, while it was a tough time for the podcaster, he also likes to see the positive outcomes.

Lex Fridman feels sometimes people’s negative opinions may cut deep. Joe Rogan was of the opinion that it happens because “you can’t defend yourself”.
