Speaking with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani,
‘The Black Beast’ said that he was under tremendous stress during the whole phase. He revealed how it was unbearable to such an extent that he had to ask his acquaintances for w**d to cope up with it. “Yeah, I don’t even wanna experience that ever again. Like too much pressure, yes, too much pressure, too much. To the point where I really was calling people up- let me get some w**d off of you. So, I can relax my nerves on fight day. That type of pressure,” Lewis told Helwani. Lewis, later told Helwani that nothing in his life could compare to that phase except the one time he had to face time in prison. “Never felt it that bad,” Lewis continued.READ MORE- UFC Heavyweight Sensation Tai Tuivasa Calls Out Youtuber Dale Brown for a FightMeanwhile, Lewis has since come out of that phase and is back in the win column at present. ‘The Black Beast’ is coming out of a dominant victory against ranked prospect and former police officer, Chris Daukaus.
He stopped Daukaus in the first round of the match with a combination of punches that sent Daukaus to the canvas. Additionally, this KO victory over Daukaus crowned Lewis as the KO-King of the UFC with 13 knockouts.
Derrick Lewis wants Stipe Miocic next
In the same conversation with Ariel Helwani, the ‘Black Beast’ revealed that he would fancy a fight with former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic.
Lewis made the revelation as he doesn’t want to chase titles anymore because of the aforementioned stress issue with him. Plus, he wants to enjoy and entertain fights where he is the underdog.

“I feel like I don’t have to prove anything. So that’s one of the reasons why I want to fight Stipe next. I believe that would be a great matchup for the fans and for both of us. He’s more of a wrestler, and I’m more of a wrestler, as well, too. So it would be a great, entertaining fight,” Lewis told Helwani.
Miocic is coming off a loss against Francis Ngannou. Notably, he is currently 20-4 in his professional MMA career.
